Snow
Here we are December 18th we have had rain, mix of rain and snow, then late this evening snow. This should put us in the Christmas mood...Love the snow as long as we have plenty to eat and we do, hubby is still recouping from his Hernia operation. His follow up visit to the doctor had a good report. In another 2 weeks he can lift more than a gallon of milk, he can now go up and down the stairs. I will be painting tomorrow on new card designs...Happy Holidays to all, wishing all a bright and merry Christmas.

Puddle in the kitchen this morning
I woke up this morning to sound of my husband calling my name, with the tone of voice I knew something was wrong, I hurried down the hall to " There's water on the floor in the kitchen" Now I'm not a morning person, need coffee and a lot of it to be human. I looked, yep that's water in front of the ref. Damn where's my coffee. After a cup I did a little looking and mopping, coming from the ice maker, some is froze some is not. Not the best way to start a morning, after a call to our neighbor, he came to check it out, cut-off valve on the copper line in the basement was not working, new valve and all will be well, I hope. So how was your day?
I did start on a new tea-cup bird scratchboard late this evening, that will keep me busy for while. This one is the Bluebird.

I finally got back to doing some scratchboard art
After about 25 years I decided to do some scratchboad, it has been a long time, it came back fast, thank goodness! I finished a cow face for Christmas cards and 5 x 7 prints. I am quite pleased. This is the year I will do a Christmas print from scratchboard. That should keep me busy for a while. I guess as artists we do need a change of pace to keep us fresh.
They are calling for rain for the next 3 days here in East Tennessee, good time to work. Just wish I did not have to the grocery store thingie...and cook.

Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair Set-up
Thank goodness with the help of our great neighbor Becky we got there early and the unloading was really great with the help of great porters at the show. Our new booth is really close to the tunnel and was a breeze to unload all the booth stuff there quickly, so B could take the truck and trailer to the parking lot. We are almost finished with set-up, last minute things to do on Friday morning, which means about 2 hours. When you do a Gatlinburg show you go to work early (especially if you drive back and forth from home every day) Tourists town!
I will take a photo of my booth and try to get it posted this week. I had ordered new card racks one is horizontal and the other vertical, they hang on my Pro-panels easily. I will still use the table spinner for my boxed cards.
This is our 1st show since last November, so B and I have some sore muscles and joints. We found out 2 weeks ago B has a hernia, so goes old age. I am trying to make him take care but you gals know how men are....no more said. Wish us luck and blessings with the show.

eating from the garden
As most of you know East Tn., was hammered with storms the last couple of days. Today it missed our section, Thank You God. We ended up at dark yesterday with a small lake in the front yard, our corn blown over and both ends of the garden flooded. Well today I went to pick our first mess of beans, discovered our potatoes were uncovered by the hard rain. The corn is still down, hopefully tomorrow we will get it back up. On the brighter side we had a great mess of green beans, new red potatoes, cucumbers and onions, the only thing that did not come out of our garden was tomatoes we had. Lots of beans yet to eat.
I am hoping the very bad storms are over for a while for everyone. Some people have had some bad damage in our area, down trees, lightning and high wind.
Tomorrow we will try to get the yard mowed.

Great day to be alive
This a beautiful day in East Tennessee, since most of our Saturdays have been on the wet side. This is really nice, worked in the garden, B mowed the yard. Last evening we had a mess of new red pototoes out of the garden.
We have feral cat (He's yellow tiger striped) who comes to eat every morning and evening and if we are on the porch he comes to visit. Most nights he sleeps in one of the chairs. We have named him Dirty Paws, our white porch has become polka-dotted with kitty prints since last winter. Last summer we had a momma cat that had 4 kittens under one of the yard barns, our neighbor's dog chased a yellow kitten up one of our trees and of course crazy woman that I am. I chased the dog off with a few chosen words and a big stick. Much to our neighbor dismay. He's getting tamer by the day, maybe one of these days he will let me pet him. He has been a good chaser of rabbits and squirrels, out of the garden so you could say he is earning his food. Now if he could just take care of the bugs.. I will try to get a picture of him to post soon.

It's beautiful morning in East Tennessee, Bill and I drank our cup of coffee on the porch by the garden, the cucumber's have fallen over and are blooming, the beans are doing their thing, peas are in the pods, will not be long, I opened one pod not mature yet.
Have not painted in last couple of days, been cleaning up an old cargo trailer we used for hauling art to the shows, we are still trying to unclutter. Will sell it. Would like to get rid of things we don't need or use any longer. This is not the trailer we use now.
Tomorrow is June 1st, where does the time go?

Eagle sighting
I wish I would have had my camera, famous last words. Bill and I decided to wash our old van this morning I happen to be taking a break looked up and there was a huge bird off in the distance, at first I thought it was a Great Blue, it came closer and boy, did I get excited when I saw the white head, I stared to yell at Bill there's a Eagle, look, look. We watched until he flew off, we only live a couple miles from Cherokee Lake, guess he was just looking the area over.

Wise Women Cards
Here is the first of my Wise Women greeting card series
On the front text
"Happy day to a Wise Woman
Oh Yeah, There's Some Snow On The Roof"
Inside is blank so you may finish with your message.
I think the next image will be
Dancing with the Stars.
This image is done with watercolor pencils. I really think you can get a lot more detail.
Wonderful week-end to paint Rain
I finished a new image for new line of cards, have not come up with a name for them yet, kind of thinking about Wise Women since they are designed for the older ladies. I am trying to get 6 images finished for the July show.
I will post the image soon as I get it scanned.
Our garden is doing great, spinach for supper this evening, found a tiny tomato on one the plants.
Our beans are reaching for the sky, need taller stakes...Ky wonders.

Our Garden
Two years ago, Bill and I filled up our in-ground pool and planted a late garden, this year we got our plants and seeds in early, we have had radishes and last evening we had lettuce (Out Of The Garden) with a hot bacon dressing. YUMMY! It has rained so much in the last weeks, it is hard to take care of it (WEEDS) but it is growing so well, potatoes are starting to bloom and the beans have runners and need to be staked. The radish below is 2 1/4 inch long.
It cost a bundle to have the pool filled with dirt, well worth it. We are both at the age of I don't like to clean the pool anymore....
Oh yes it stormed this morning! One of us is going to have to get muddy...

More rain coming
Rain and no storms I hope. Since I spent most of the day in the kitchen, its left-overs tomorrow, maybe I will get some painting done, I have had one on the graphic table, sketched out and ready to start for 2 days now. I have also been working on greeting cards 5 x 7 to sell at my shows and on-line.
This is one of my images I will use on a card, I take a look at my older photos for something to inspire me, luckily I found about 20 photos I will either use for a painting or fiddle around in photoshop till I get what I want.
The garden is doing so well I am almost afraid to say anything for fear a frost will get it, peas, corn, beans, all the cabbage and brussel sprouts are popping up.
The red rocks painting is one I have set aside for a year not really sure what it needs to be finished. It has not talked to me yet.

Spring is here in East Tn
After about 5 days of working in and on the garden, Wheee it is finally planted, except for the tomatoes plants, thinking we will wait until the first part of April to do that. We hurried today as they are calling for 4 days of rain, we hope. In the middle of planting beans we run out, cleaned up headed for Lowe's to buy some to finish off the last row.
Now to get back to the old drafting table and some painting. I might need to do a little house keeping first, the path seems to be closing behind me..

new Card
I am finally getting a page up on my website with my greeting cards, probably will have some images posted by early next week. Bill and I worked in the yard the biggest part of the day, cleaning up winter's array of dead limbs and pine needles, so tonight it's Oh My Aching Back. So it may take me a day or two to get over the aches and pains. So feel free to mosey on over and take a look http:www.kaymurphysstudio.com I will be doing in-house printing on 50lb polar white paper which really pops the color. Check me out sometime after March 11. I will be doing custom designed cards. Happy Early Spring!
