More rain coming

Rain and no storms I hope. Since I spent most of the day in the kitchen, its left-overs tomorrow, maybe I will get some painting done, I have had one on the graphic table, sketched out and ready to start for 2 days now. I have also been working on greeting cards 5 x 7 to sell at my shows and on-line.

This is one of my images I will use on a card, I take a look at my older photos for something to inspire me, luckily I found about 20 photos I will either use for a painting or fiddle around in photoshop till I get what I want.

The garden is doing so well I am almost afraid to say anything for fear a frost will get it, peas, corn,beans, all the cabbage and brussel sprouts are popping up.

The red rocks painting is one I have set aside for a year not really sure what it needs to be finished. It has not talked to me yet.

Spring is here in East Tn

After about 5 days of working in and on the garden, Wheee it is finally planted, except for the tomatoes plants, thinking we will wait until the first part of April to do that. We hurried today as they are calling for 4 days of rain, we hope. In the middle of planting beans we run out, cleaned up headed for Lowe's to buy some to finish off the last row.
Now to get back to the old drafting table and some painting. I might need to do a little house keeping first, the path seems to be closing behind me..

Chilly today in East TN

Only in the 50's, we have plants wanting to get in the ground, will wait until tomorrow since its to get into the low 30's tonight.
Finally fiinished my snowbirds and smokey mtns painting, will try to post it tomorrow, original acrylic 12 x 24, also have a new 10 x 10 original acrylic of white tulips with a almost black background. Both these paintings are on canvas and do not need a frame as sides are painted.

I am finally getting a page up on my website with my greeting cards, probably will have some images posted by early next week. Bill and I worked in the yard the biggest part of the day, cleaning up winter's array of dead limbs and pine needles, so tonight it's Oh My Aching Back. So it may take me a day or two to get over the aches and pains. My oh My! woke up this morning with about 2 inches of snow on the ground, great day to watching the telly and work on the blog, post new greeting cards, eat.

Photos Cades Cove

My New camera and I are still in the learning curve stage. I did get a couple nice shots of the mountains and deer, there was more people in the cove than in the summer months. I did take one panorama shot, that came out nice.

Some days I guess we should just stay in bed. Best made plans of mice and men day, got up early to fix us some ham biscuits to take with us to Cades Cove, raining, so we waited, watched the weather channel decided to fix breakfast, ate, decided we would go tomorrow, good thing as the fog rolled in later in the day but we did go to the Capt. Galley for a late lunch, good sea food, took a back road on the way home, mercy me! Longhorn cattle some with calf's got a few shots of them, these guys had some awesome horns.

Try again tomorrow hopefully some good shots in the Cove, will show up on the blog later this week.

Finally getting to do some design work on greeting cards, these will be submitted to card publishers with the hope they will like them, I really like doing winter scenes best. Oh well I did posies before.
Still working on a big 12 x 24 canvas spruce limbs with cones with some snow birds, will post when I get it finished. I guess I like working with a one hair brush on spruce needles.
Since my first show is not until July I still have plenty of time, just need to really get mind on painting.

This Saturday Bill and I are spending it in Cades Cove, got a new digital camera looking forward to getting some good photos for reference. Probably eat supper in Gatlinburg.

Only 7 days till Valentine's Day

This is the strangest weather, we are in the 60's today it will like that for the next couple of days, may get that dirty lil' white car washed on Monday or Tuesday.

We are still feeding about 9 stray or neighbor's cats, they come and go, sleep a while on one of the chaise lounges or a chair. At least they are not hungry.

Need to get more cards painted, this means getting my mind in gear, April Fool and Easter will be next. You all have a great week-end.

More snow on Feb 3rd

Guess we are finally having winter, more snow in East Tennessee today and calling for more for the next 2 days. We have done the grocery run, got out the crock pot, fixed a roast beef, this just in case the electricity goes off. Of course any left-overs will be soup in a couples of days.
I will get a chance to do more painting tomorrow, working on a 12 x 24 canvas landscape of the mountains with spruce cones and junco's, love those little snow-birds.

Febuary 2nd snow

Snow, finally in East Tennessee, Bill and I left about 9: am for Knoxville this morning, it was just sprinkling rain which quickly turn to mush on the window. About the time we hit Knoxville we had snow and the temperature was falling rapidly, since we were heading for the other end of the city, the farther we drove the worst it got, Dang, we need a Best Buy on this end. Pulled into a Cracker Barrel for breakfast by the time we had ate the parking lot was about 3" of the white stuff and huge flakes coming down at fast pace and here we are in our HHR not the big SUV with 4 wheel drive. Murphy's Law strikes again. We hurried to Best Buy Bill got my birthday present New Kodak camera, now the snow was slacking up a little, stopped and filled up with gas (needed some weight) Bill said. He's driving so a fill up is fine. HOME Safe, Thank you. Now I am trying to figured out this new camera, even though my birthday not until the 14th, he is letting me learn how to operate it. Took me 1/2 hour to figure out where the memory card went. So now its charging. I can watch this beautiful snow falling and read instruction book. Look for some snow pix's tomorrow.

East Tennessee had snow

We finally had some snow today, most of

the day, it was great, been a while
since we had any snow, it melted
midday but about 4:00 it started to
lay on the ground again. I braved the elements
long enough to get some pic's of our spruce
tree's with the cones and snow. Now
to get to work on some paintings, snow does inspire
me to paint.

18 day show

Well, for 2 old people we did ok, butts dragging we finished the 18 day show at Gatlinburg, packed up our display headed downtown to Bubba Gumps for supper, great shrimp. a little on the loud side, music and people. The show in this tough time of our enocony ended ok but only because we did not have an hotel bill, we can sleep in our own bed and we ate at home part of the time.

Gatlinburg Craftsmens Fair October show

Home our butts a dragging, booth set-up, easy unload, we had a great porter to help us. I thought we would never get the display racks set-up and then the hanging of art work Wheeee! Rest tomorrow, show starts on Thursday Oct 9... We will have at least an hour work to do on Thursday morning if not more.

We hope to see a lot of you all at the show, doing your Christmas shopping, Fiss on the wall street and their bad management, I vote for lets have real feel-good Christmas...

Gatlinburg Craftsmens Fair

Here we are days away from setting up the show, my bones ache to think about doing it, my left knee is still giving me a fit.

All the crap going on in wall street and they tag this bill with the Orphan's Law which literary takes an artist's copyright and throws it to the wind, leaving us artists running around like a chicken with our heads chopped off, any one can steals our art we created, this takes our jobs as free-lance and art show artists away. BaaHumbug on the people in Washington and shame on them.

Any who back to business I will have 7 new christmas cards images with bookmarks, 6 for sure. That is if I can get myself to working on the last card image. Here's hoping you guys come to the Gatlinburg show to shop and forget about this crap for a day and enjoy ourselves.

Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair

Well, here it is getting down to the wire for the fall show in Gatlinburg. If you are planning a day trip to the mountains to look at the leaves, spend a couple hours at this show, held in the convention center downtown Gatlinburg 10:-7: each day Sunday 10:-5:. Do your Christmas shopping at this show. Meet and talk with the artist who does the work. Buy something special from them, you sure can not find this quality of work in cheap imports. Support you USA hand -made art and crafts. We will be there for the full 18 days.

I will have Christmas cards #10, envelope with printed image on the outside and with a same image on a laminated bookmark inside the card NICE GIFT for anyone, especially a book worm. Also my images on laminated magnets, NICE GIFT art gallery on the front of your ref. Called Kitchen Art. This year you can remember your friends and family without spending a fortune.
